FHFA Announces New Multifamily Tenant Protections as Part of Commitment to Advance Resident-Centered Practices at Enterprise-Backed Properties

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is announcing three new tenant protections, establishing the first tenant protection policy applicable to all multifamily properties financed with mortgages backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the Enterprises). Under the new policy, which will be effective February 28, 2025, multifamily housing providers with Enterprise-backed financing must provide tenants: 1) a 30-day notice of a rent increase, 2) a 30-day notice of a lease term’s expiration, and 3) a minimum 5-day grace period for late rent payments.

The data also provide updated mortgage performance and credit information for a nationally representative sample of mortgage borrowers from 2013 to 2021.

2024Q1 UAD Aggregate Statistics: Volume and Median Appraised Value for Both Purchase and Refinance Appraisals Rose over the Past Year and Quarter

The number of U.S. home appraisals increased both between the first quarters of 2023 and 2024 and the fourth quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024. The median appraised value for both purchase and refinance appraisals also increased between the same periods.

60-Day Notice “National Survey of Mortgage Originations” information collection for approval from OMB

U.S. house prices rose in April, up 0.2 percent from March, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) seasonally adjusted monthly House Price Index (HPI®). House prices rose 6.3 percent from April 2023 to April 2024. The previously reported 0.1 percent price increase in March was revised downward to 0.0 percent.
