Becoming a homeowner and understanding the mortgage process can be challenging in any language. If you are looking to speak with someone in your preferred language about the mortgage process, mortgage documents, loan payments, staying in your home, or avoiding scams or fraud, there are resources available for you. Whether it is a live interpretation service or a counselor who speaks your language, free-to-use interpretive services are here to help.

HUD's nationwide network of Housing Counseling Agencies provide individual counseling and group education to help current and prospective homeowners and renters make responsible housing choices. These HUD-approved agencies provide guidance and resources on homeownership, rental, service for the homeless, reverse mortgage and budget and financial literacy via face-to-face, phone and secure internet platforms. HUD has created a tool to locate housing counseling agencies that includes what languages are supported so you can find a housing counselor you can work with in your preferred language. https://apps.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hcc/hcs.cfm

Additionally, you may call their interactive housing counseling line to be directed to housing counseling agencies in your area in the English or Spanish languages at (800) 569-4287.

The Counseling line is a free automated telephone line that directs you to counselors in your area. The online locator includes the languages supported by each housing counselor (800) 569-4287 or online here Housing counseling line, available in English and Spanish, and locator tool are available 24/7 but hours of operation and languages supported vary by agency

A HUD certified counselor is ready to talk with you.
