On May 23, 2012, the Federal government launched a comprehensive Digital Government Strategy designed to improve digital services delivered to the American public. The strategy challenged government agencies to identify ways to use innovative technologies to streamline their delivery of services to lower costs, decrease service delivery times, and improve the customer experience.
The Digital Strategy focuses agency efforts on four principles:
- building information-centric systems and tools;
- utilizing shared platforms to improve information dissemination across government;
- delivering customer-centric, highly effective services;
- ensuring security and privacy.
The strategy is intended to ensure information is accessible, current and accurate.
FHFA's Digital Strategy
FHFA is committed to increasing transparency in the housing finance markets. We actively promote the dissemination of information that will improve the public's understanding of housing finance markets and thereby the efficiency of the market.
Data/Information Availability/Publication Process
Per FHFA Delegations and internal information classification policies and related procedures (e.g., CUI), FHFA’s Director and his designees have the authority to disclose Non-Public FHFA information. FHFA information and data sets undergo stringent internal review processes before publication.
FHFA's economists conduct research on a range of topics in housing finance, including analyzing our data and uncovering emerging trends. This can be found on our Research page.
FHFA proactively posts information in FHFA's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Reading Room including final opinions and orders; statements of policy and interpretations not published in the Federal Register; policy and administrative staff manuals that affect a member of the public; and frequently requested records.
Security and Privacy
FHFA is aware of the importance of information security and privacy, for that reason FHFA is dedicated to ensuring that effective security and privacy controls are in place to protect the electronic resources, data, and services that it provides. FHFA accomplishes this through the development and implementation of policies, monitoring of security events, education and training, and compliance activities as required by the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA).
