Washington, D.C. – Stephen Blumental, Acting Director of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO), safety and soundness regulator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, today released its first Performance and Accountability Report (PAR). In prior years, OFHEO issues separate annual performance reports and annual audited financial statements. The PAR combines the two. This year, OFHEO chose to issue the PAR to improve the transparency and the public's understanding of how OFHEO operates.
The report provides a three-part summary of OFHEO's operations and accomplishments in achieving its goal as well as financial information for FY 2005. The next OFHEO annual Report to Congress—detailing examinations and regulatory oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac—will be issued in June 2006.
