FHLB is very important to our bank as a source of liquidity. In Wyoming we do not have the all the housing programs that other states may have for housing development, so if we were restricted in our membership due to our inability to meet arbitrary requirements for certain types of home lending it would be detrimental to our bank. We strive to be a strong presence in our community by lending to the consumer, offering a wide range of home loans and being involved in community activities. We actively support our schools and community needs as much as possible. We believe the current system works well and that it meets the intent of Congress when they developed the FHLB system. We also believe that any changes to the system should be made by Congress not the FHFA. Restricting funding can hurt our bank by removing an important source of funding we use to when we have cyclical cash needs due to public funds leaving our bank for local projects and higher than expected loan demand.
