    I am writing today to voice my concerns about the proposed changes to the FHLB and its mission. The FHLB has been a valuable partner for community banks like ours over the years. As management, we feel that the mission of the FHLB system is clear. Any restrictions or changes have a very strong possibility of actually restricting credit and lower options for home ownership. The system has functioned well thru the last several economic cycles.

    In short, the FHLB system has met their mission by providing liquidity and avenues to help provide affordable housing. Creating additional requirements that will raise the cost or restrict advances from the FHLB will reduce the availability of credit in rural communities.
