Hello Michele Thomas: I am so happy to be able to submit my very serious comment on my/our situation here at Western Plaza Manufacture Home Park; a senior park noted by legislature as Affordable Living. An out-of-state investor, Legacy purchased our park June 1, 2022. We immediately had questions; with several residence writing letters asking questions, even requesting a meeting. There was no reply. We soon learned our rent was going up $100. , plus new arrivals were being faced with $900 rent. Before the park sold our rent increase was $10 and my rent was $570 affordable. Now with the $100 increase my rent is $670. This is not affordable! Plus I have learned notices are being sent out for the second $100 increase. Legacy wants to state we are market rate; we are not market rate. In fact Western Plaza owns aged homes; the park is not fancy, no swimming pool, tennis court, weight room. Many seniors are on very low incomes; my income is being greatly eaten up making it much harder to care for my home and other needs! We are really scared, fearing homelessness, and simply wondering just what is going to happen to us period! I and others moved into this park for affordability and feeling we would spend the rest of our days here! Something has to be done VERY SOON before its too late!!! Thanks for your time!
