When I found out that the federal government was giving money to landlords to buy property, but there was no requirement that they had to keep rent even somewhat affordable or habitable, I could only think how wrong that is. There needs to be accountability if you are going to give landlords tax dollars; you have to have some requirements in place for them to get and keep that money. No one gave people money in 2008 when the stock market crashed- now Fannie and Freddie are giving away money to landlords and they’re pricing people out and taking rent without keeping their properties in good condition. That is not right.
