    We need controls for how much rent can increase each year. Rent increases have continued to rise more than wages, which has resulted in more instability in our communities. Without a home a person can’t be expected to have a job and contribute to society. Housing should be seen as a human right. I lived in an apartment building that received FHFA funding, and they tried to intimidate us with a lease violation for talking to our neighbors about their right to organize as a tenant. We need better education for tenants rights, better enforcement to protect tenants, and most of all a national effort to keep people in their homes.
