I have been a renter for much of my life, but am currently a landlord. However, I strongly support protections (and strong enforcement of those protections!) for renters such as protection against discrimination based on lawful source of income.

I also believe that more notice should be required for rent increases and lease non-renewals and that cause should be required for eviction.

Finally, I see so much need for renter legal aid in our community and hope that counsel programs will be better funded. People are too often being shafted and have nowhere to turn for assistance. The state of Florida has taken a terrible step by preempting our local communities from taking action to protect renters. Hence, the importance of federal protections cannot be understated here.
