As advocates of quality, safe multifamily housing, we share the Administration’s commitment to addressing the affordable housing crisis in our nation. Unfortunately, imposing additional regulation around multifamily borrowers risks creating additional issues in an already unstable market. It would be in the best interest of renters and multifamily owners for the FHFA to refrain from creating additional obligations & hurdles for private rental housing providers and instead focus on leveraging federal resources in the form of incentives to bolster new affordable housing supply that is desperately needed.
