I support tenant rights & stable markets of rent. I live in a small studio just South of Fresno State off Gettysburg & Chestnut Avenues. I currently pay $850 & just got his with a 5.3% rent increase by September 1st, 2023. Now I will be paying $895!!! And I have no choice but to stay & pay it. The complex is rundown, flooded w/ homeless people, drug deals on property, thin & old windows, asphalt issues, loud airport noise & street racing late at night! I have little in savings & nowhere else to go as rent prices are extremely high & out of control! There needs to be rent caps in place to protect this steep of an increase & only 30 days notice! We have rights & what the City of Fresno is doing is criminal!!
