As it currently stands, tenants in Kansas City are being undermined and having their basic needs violated. Negligence on part of landlords places people in jeopardy, and often hazardous conditions. In many cases low income families bear the biggest burden. Will we continue to allow the system to take advantage of people in poverty and threaten the lives of children?

The following matters are proposed by KCTU:
    -Rent regulation
-Good cause eviction -Ban on SOI discrimination and current enforcement of discrimination laws. -Safe, quality housing standards
-Federal landlord registry -Guaranteed tenants right to organize.
    -Fair leases
    -Office of tenant protections.

Until fair judicial practices are instituted, and landlords are held accountable for their violations on human rights, these acts of violence and negligence towards members of our community will continue.
