I am born and raised in Bozeman. I am 22 years old. When I graduated in 2022 I worried that I wouldn't be able to stay in Bozeman because I couldn't afford to live here. Bozeman is my home, Montana has been my family's home for 3 generations. I am lucky because I have a good relationship with my mom, who I have been living with, while I try to find a place to live. I did what I was told, I worked hard, I got my degree, and I got a good paying job. Like most people I get paid every 2 weeks. The average rent takes half of my income. Even with my job I have a hard time saving for other things because half of my income would be gone. I have seen my town morph from a small town to a playground for the rich. The house my mother and father bought for $300,000 is now worth $1,000,000. It's clear to me that this inflation isn't because of growth, but caused by people who are driven by profit.
