    The rent in SC is too damn high and the landlords are shady. I live in a federally back property and was evicted when state funds were misappropriated and even though the state paid my rent, the landlord said they didn't receive it. I tried my best to get in touch with whoever I could to help sort this and was unable to get through long lines and day longs holds. Even though my landlord knew that I had state vouchers and was sorting it, he would not give any leeway or assistance, even though I even paid my rent all thru the pandemic. I had no representation in court and did not know that there may have been an option for that. I was evicted and now I am homeless. The worst part is that the state funds show as cleared and the landlord won't give a refund and continues to say they didn't receive it. I'm not sure how me and my kids will get through this. We need rent regulation, and good cause eviction only. My landlord should have been able to work with me and see me as a human but he didn't and now I am homeless.
