Our membership consists primarily of mom & pop landlords. Although we do have Realtors, Trades, Property Managers, etc as members as well. The #1 fear that small, family owned/family operated landlords have is further government intrusion into their day to day operations, specifically, government over reach into rent controls. Our rents are competitively market driven and those affordable, work-force rents are constantly being impacted by insurance premiums and real estate taxes. Said costs have to be passed on to the tenant as much as they, and we, wish they weren't. The implementation of Government rent caps (as show in many, many markets in the U.S.) will produce an exodus of small, tenant-friendly, landlords.
