    My name is Connie and I am a tenant living in Bozeman Montana. I am a member of Bozeman Tenants United and the Homes Guarantee Campaign. We lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with one child. I am on disability and my husband worked a job that ended after we moved for it. We were stranded and living in a motel until we found this apartment at a local motel. We lived in this apartment from September of 2000 until today. Our apartment went untouched by landlords except for very, very basic maintenance. This went on through the selling of the motel to developers who turned the motel rooms into apartments with three more owners. The three of us lived together here until our daughter moved to another town. Now it's just my husband and I who are now both on disability. Our rent is over half of our combined income. Last year our landlord moved us out of that apartment that we had lived in for 22 years to "fix it up", into another 1 bedroom apartment. Our rent went up 40% a month as a result. If we had not agreed to move, I don't know what could have happened.
