My name is Marie and I am a tenant living in Bozeman, Montana. I am a member of Bozeman Tenants United and the Homes Guarantee Campaign. Our rent goes up every year -- about $100 -- while my husband and I are on Section 8 housing assistance, it is still a stretch for us. We are living on social security because my husband has dementia and I am his caregiver plus we are elderly (70 and 85 years old). The last time we moved 5 years ago it was so stressful on both of us - we don't want to have to move ever again - if we could even find a place to move to...Our son and daughter-in-law moved to Helena because they could find no affordable housing in Bozeman so we travel to Helena when we want to visit them and our granddaughter. It's hard for them to travel with their sweet toddler. So life in Bozeman continues to be challenging...so many have been forced out of town or into homelessness. This needs to change.
