Housing development has been dependent on providing our taxpayer money to developers via construction loans or loan guarantees. It is time to leverage our public support for protections of tenants living in federally supported development ventures including rent control, eviction protections, and quality of habitation. Federal support should be incumbent on avoiding Displacement or building a one to one replacement unit plus providing tenants with federal Uniform Relocation Act compensation.
