Landlords using government money shouldn't be able to just raise the rent however much they want- because they didn't have to put up all this money out of their own pocket, so raising our rent is just them asking for even more free money.
The owner of Bedford Manor where I live is a billionaire company that got a FannieMae loan, so they should be investing the money they're making to make the complex more liveable. But they're going the cheap route on repairs and it's not liveable here! You've got women like me with 4 kids living here without working air conditioning in this heat wave. So they should be required to do repairs if they get FannieMae loans.
And they shouldn't be able to retaliate if we speak up, because we're the residents - they're the ones who should be on top of the things we need. I've lived here for 6 years, and the last two years since the new owners bought it with FannieMae money have been the worst I've seen- when repairs or changes need to be done here, we need to be able to speak up about it, and there should be rules protecting us if we do.
