Landlords are taking government loans but then raising the rent! This is totally outrageous- if the government is giving away our money to millionaires out of state who buy up complexes in our town, they shouldn't be allowed to raise rent more than the percentage of the loan's interest.

There should also be minimum housing standards like working air conditioning, access for disabled people, and working plumbing and electric.

There needs to be a rule against retaliation because this is a huge problem in Shelbyville! The owners of these complexes let them go to shit because they're planning to just resell them later and they use them like a gold mine to extract wealth for themselves. Obviously renters would complain about the deteriorating conditions, but a lot of us are intimidated because we're afraid they'll evict us or make our lives hell if we speak up. Having protections that prevent retaliation are the only way for the government and taxpayers to really know how our public money is being used and make sure that these landlords are following the rules!
