    How is it that we have the so called tenants rights under the HPD And DOB in my state of NY but there's very little to no consequences other than an occasional minimal fines for landlords for things like Harassment , intimidation, and attempted break in's and the police don't even want to write up reports for us to take to court to prove our case in the first place. their are 50,000 illegal apt.s in the city on record and unregistered that could produce needed revenue and properties with outstanding violations that endanger life and health of the occupants . the owners circumvent their responsibility by not allowing regular property inspections by the HPD, DOB, and FDNY by not Registering their properties and not showing the true rental amounts collected so they dodge the IRS. this place i presently doesn't have the required proper Egress in case of a fire and that's a FDNY and DOB requirement. can someone tell me how are all these things being ignored and over looked and allowing to go unchecked and unaddressed and allowing rental increases of $600.00 in one shot. this is madness.
