I have been renting in the state of Florida for almost 10 years. Rent was manageable during my first 6 years here however it has gotten out of hand with absolutely no recourse or assistance with capping the rent hikes many Floridians see every year on their lease renewals. This plays a significant role in my decision to not renew my lease this year and find housing outside of Florida. It's not a matter of not being able to pay the increased monthly rent. I have been for the last 3 years. It's a matter of understanding that my increases in my wages from bonuses and promotions go only to increases in my rent. My tax dollars should no longer benefit a state that finds favors landlords over residents so egregiously
