    As a lifelong tenant living first in my parents’ rent-stabilized apartment in New York City and now navigating the rental market on my own in Chicago and San Jose, I have seen firsthand how precarious it can be to find affordable and quality rentals. This is even harder for tenants with families or pets, disabled tenants, tenants of color, and tenants on Section 8. Tenants need rent regulations to protect us from rent hikes, prohibitions on evictions without good cause, a ban on source of income discrimination, and safe quality accessible housing standards!
