I'm living on a fixed income, sharing a studio apartment with my wife, and over 75% of my SSI check goes to rent. And I'm one of the lucky ones; I pass homeless people on the street every day.
If the government is going to be giving landlords easy credit, it needs to be conditioning it on policies that ensure that people can afford and remain in the homes built with said credit.
