When late on the rent, a person should have a 10 day grace period, because in some cases people are paid late by their employer and they do not want to be late on other other bills. Everything is going up and we are working to live. If rent is able to go up then there needs to be a cost of living adjustment for all jobs and not have it effect people who have housing vouchers. I get paid after my rent due date. I always have to pay my rent late and then I have repeal the process of eviction. My rent is 1600 as a base and after late fees it is 1800. Then court documents that are extra expenses. I have to take time off of work every month. I have been living in the same apartment since 2007 and I have explained to them my pay day schedule and they refuse to work with me. I have communicated with them on my pay dates. Landlords and property managers should be able to work with people on when a tenant gets paid. There also be repercussions for landlords who lie to tenants lying about up keep and trying to work with you on rent. My landlord told me that they would work with me and they have not worked with me. Furthermore when it comes you for you to renew your lease a resident should be given new things such as cleaning the carpet, new appliances, etc., they should welcomed to stay and not live in fear of bad living conditions.
