My name is Roger and I am a tenant living in Brigham City, Utah. I am a member of the Homes Guarantee Campaign.
My rent went up over 20% in a moment’s notice. I am fearful that I will not be able to find affordable housing. I already live 60 miles from my job (one way), and I am looking for a 2nd job on the weekends to supplement my income. Living closer to my job is no option, as rent is even more unaffordable to me in Salt Lake City, Utah. My landlord has not done much to improve living conditions in the house or the property as a whole, and I cannot do any improvements as it would be an out-of-pocket expense to me and my landlord doesn't allow it.
