The rents in my area (Scranton PA region) require proof of income of at least 65,00 or more annually, yet our median household income is in the low 40s. Our local governments do NOTHING to assist. One of the primary reasons for the high rents is that most of the rentals have been bought up by NJ/NY folks and they are charging NJ/NY rents, in an area that is financially distressed and poor.
