The price of rent in Arizona is going up while the wage price stays the same. I had to move in 10 days because my landlord failed to inform me in a timely manner that my rent was being hiked up from $650 to $900. The unit itself was small, not maintained properly by management, there was old clogged pipes that were never replaced, cockroach infested and they still expected me to pay $900 because that rent hike is somehow legal. I didn’t get a pay raise to match the rent hike, the pandemic has made it more difficult for people to pay their everyday expenses and yet landlords can get rich quick by up charging on rent knowing their tenants won’t fight back or don’t have the resources to move.
