How can the median rent be for a 1 bedroom 1700-1800 yet minimum wage can’t even cover that????????? I am a single woman over 50 who has fallen on very hard times. I CANNOT receive any sort of public assistance even though I do not make enough to cover rent I make too much for assistance. THAT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!!!!. I haven’t been able to
Pay my gas or electric bill now for like 5 months .I’m being evicted. I need help and every number I call is a “recording” saying they are maxed out & Are no longer Able to Help. I will be homeless and have never asked for assistance other than unemployment once when I needed it(not during Covid). I also now need to
Pay partial health insurance how can I do that when I can’t afford rent? Bureaucratic mess? Well add me to your number of homeless. I’m so absolutely terrified.

it seems that the only assistance I would have to
Move to bad neighborhood where there are shenanigans going on. Like drugs and more…

Landlords are raising rents at the highest rates in over 40 years.
Median rents in the U.S. have risen nearly 20% in the last two years alone.
Nationally, median rent has surpassed $2,000 for the first time ever.
In 2023, there is not a single state where a worker employed full-time at the federal minimum wage can afford a modest two-bedroom apartment.
