My name is Tammy Sabens and I am a tenant living in Glasgow KY . I am a member of the Homes Guarantee campaign .

The rent is too damn high!
I am a single woman age 62. I sold my home last year to prepare for retirement and get cash out to pay off debt. I was not aware of the double rent prices! I left bowling green and moved to another small town to save money but it was still 1350$ ! He stated he had increased rent from prior year by 150$!
I have wanted to rebuy a home but I can’t possibly afford now because prices have gone up by 70%!
Home prices I can’t afford because of school loans and income.
I can’t imagine how families are making it with grocery bills doubled.
Something had to be done now !
The Federal Housing Finance Agency should protect tenants by limiting annual rent hikes to 1.5 times the Consumer Price Index or 3%, whichever is lower, in properties with federally backed mortgages. These limits should be applied universally as a requirement to all federally backed mortgage programs.
In addition to limits on rent hikes, the FHFA should prohibit evictions without good cause, ban source of income discrimination, enforce and expand existing protections against discrimination, require safe and accessible housing conditions, create a landlord registry, require fair and standardized leases, ensure tenants have the right to organize, and create an Office of Tenant Protections to enforce these rights in all properties with federally backed mortgages.
    Sincerely,
    Tammy Sabens
