I'd like to make comments in regards to research being done for possible tenant protection policies. I'm a partner in ownership of multiple multi-family residential communities. Our goal is to provide clean, safe, functional, and affordable homes for our residents. We want to improve the quality and experience of our residents because ultimately it makes for a good business model.

The partners aren't some corporate entity but a group of common Americans that pool our savings to purchase assets. By providing the best product at the best price, we can improve the quality of living for the residents while giving us a reasonable rate of return for our investment. We are not slum lords, but are business people that want to provide a nice place for other folks to live.

We're able to invest millions of dollars into improving an asset because we have the hope of having a return on our investment. If our business model is imbalanced because of regulations and policies that negatively affect our ability to run our business, investors will stop making the investments necessary to purchase and operate these assets. Policies such as rent control, requiring the acceptance of vouchers, and excessive eviction requirements makes it very difficult for us to operate our properties while maintaining a balance of profits for owners and a great experience for residents. Bad acting residents makes it hard to operate a business and it can be unsafe for other residents.

Please consider supporting policies that allow us to operate our businesses in a way that encourages investments that improve the quality of the communities while enhancing the resident's experience.
