Please put in place policy that protects tenants. First, by supporting legislation that prohibits landlords for discriminating against source of income--housing assistance programs--so that many of our low-income neighbors can attain housing that is affordable, appropriate and accessible. This is particularly needed for older adults who typically are relying on fixed incomes and people living with disabilities. Secondly, by prohibiting rent gouging and variable fees. Gouging where applicants to units are being required to pay unreasonable application costs (costs that exceed the actual cost of background checks and reasonable overhead/adm. cost), requirements that applicants pay 3x the monthly rental costs as a security deposit, and requirement to utilize their internet and utility service which impacts tenant choice to shop around for the plans that best meet their budgets.

Thank you for considering my feedback.
