Hello. I am a renter in Minneapolis Minnesota. I have been a renter for the last 28 years. At my last rental in Minneapolis our landlord refused to renew our lease after we raised concerns about health and safety violations in our duplex (running a space heater 24/7 in a tuck under garage for example). We were forced to move with our young child right at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2020). While better maintained, our new rental our landlord increased our rent 5.9% last year - well beyond my 1% annual salary income. I strongly support the proposed FHFA regulations on rent hikes and evictions, housing safety requirements, bans on discrimination, and more. Even if a current unit I'm in is not impacted - a future one could be. Thaks for your consideration.
