Please do not pass these types of laws nationwide. These are decisions that should be made by the people in a particular city/town relative to the conditions there. I live in an area that has strict rent and eviction control laws in place so I have seen what the effects can be. The condition of income properties deteriorates greatly because landlords do not have the funds to keep them maintained. Property owners are not able to remove problematic tenants. If they decide to sell their property they take a huge loss in sales price because they are unable to sell it without removing the tenant. Buyers do not want to purchase a home that has a tenant in place because the burden rests on them to evict the tenant before they can move in which costs them attorney fees and their lender requires them to move in within 60 days of closing which doesn't provide enough time for the eviction if the tenant refuses to leave. I could go on and on. The negative effects of these so called tenant protection laws abound.
