As a tenant for many years I know how little control I have over my home compared to landlords. Housing is a basic human need. There should therefore be strong tenant protections. Profit should not be the highest value when it comes to basic human needs. Human needs should be prioritized so that people can have their basic needs met. It is an uncivilized society in which it is acceptable for people who cannot afford overpriced basic housing or healthcare to live on the street and without medical care, or to be forced by lack of funds to live in substandard or dangerous housing.
