The building I lived in was sold. It had six apartments. The new owner told us all that we had to leave because he wanted to replace us with people who could pay more rent. We didn't do anything wrong. We paid our rent on time. I lived there for over 30 years. My neighbors across the hall live there over 40 years. To anyone else, these were just apartments, but to us, these apartments were our homes. Since apartments are so expensive now, we all struggled to find anywhere to live.
As long as nothing matters but greed, this country is not a civilized society.
