Homelessness is a rampant problem in the USA due to catastrophes such as fires, floods, astronomical medical bills and also by landlords raising rents and evicting people for profit. My retired husband and I live on Social Security and just lost our rental home of 35 years without any fault or reason that we caused. Please require landlords who get federal money to agree to tenant protections like limiting rent hikes, banning evictions without good cause, and standardizing leases in over 12 million apartment units nationwide. Please prevent homelessness, which costs less money to prevent than the current exorbitant expenses city's face without ever fixing the problem at its source.
