My family and I have lived in the same house for ten years. In that tune, our rent has doubled. My income has increased an average of less than 20% in the same amount of time. If we are three days late with our monthly rent, the landlord sends someone out to post a letter threatening eviction to our front door. They did this every month of the lockdown, even after we repeatedly let them know that we were applying for rental assistance. They received all of the back rent, but continue to threaten us. We are a working family of four with small children and would love to stay in our house forever, but if rent keeps increasing at this rate we will soon be homeless.
