I strongly urge you to subject the landlords benefiting from Enterprise loans to the same rental restrictions that others are protected by. It is taxpayer money that will be going to these properties and taxpayers deserve the same protection from untoward and unaffordable increases as any other rental properties.
An economy where rental homes or apartments are behind the capacity of working class people is not a successful economy as the labor shortage in many of the service jobs already demonstrates. This is being felt across our nation. In particular vital service jobs such as nursing, a broad spectrum of health care workers, and even construction companies have found themselves in labor shortage because of the unaffordability of housing. We need the government of Canada to show itself in solidarity with the people, not developers and the rich elite. I am quite convinced that the right wing destructive movements a gaining an unwelcome foothold in Canada are caused by the inequities capitalism is creating. A democratic government will provide legislation to protect the majority of its citizens from the predatory impulses of the elite. This legislation must reflect equity and justice in support of affordable housing for the people of Canada where homelessness is sadly increasingly a social problem.
