As a community activist and an outspoken voice for the under-represented people of our communities I unequivocally insist that low/fixed income tenants especially those of color and the disabled be given legal protections from unwarranted evictions, excessive rent hikes, and timely professional home repairs. Rents are already out of reach for this group of citizens all across our country.
By allowing greed to lead we create more problems in our country as we push people out into the streets. The deprivation and harm to the individuals, families, health care systems, work force and economy will catch up to you. Our rights must be protected and we are responsible for those less fortunate than us. Do your civic duty and pass these basic protections.
