More protection is needed for citizens working full time to afford housing. Rents continue to rise yearly. Rent freezes are needed for many people who have acquired housing but with yearly increases can no longer afford to stay in their apartments.
Apartments require renters to pay water bills. This is creating an additional burden for people already paying more than 1/2 their income on rent.
My sister works a full time job and part time. She has a good credit rating. She has been renting for years. She was recently required to show income three times her rent. She can barely afford a one bedroom apartment.
More protection for renters is needed. Too many new apartments that are being built in the inner city have rents well over what the people in the community can afford.
Retired Seniors have very few options and are forced to live in tiny apartments with multiple floors and broken elevators.
We must do more to protect renters and help them to eventually own their own home.

    Respectfully,
    Patricia Scott
