I have lived in federally backed properties in North Charleston SC and those were some of the worst conditions that I ever lived in. Landlords that are receiving federal loans should be held to a high standard. There needs to be rental caps enforced and tenant protections need to be created, renewed and amplified. Landlords should have to face consequences when they don't provide safe and sanitary places to live. A tenant council as oversight would be awesome.
