Anyone who knows anything about economics understands how counter productive it is to have rent control. The evidence is all around us. Cities with rent control have rental housing shortages, run away property values, and sub-standard rental homes. And yet, rent control never goes away. Intuitively it looks like it is protecting renters and housing market while in fact, it does just the opposite. Politicians love it because it garnishes more votes for them. Please do not incorporate rent control. It will be devastating to the tenants.
