    We need rent control control and tenant protections. I work two jobs and over 80 hours a week. That doesn't include the commutes I must take daily bc rent is too high for me to afford to live and work in the same place that I work as a CNA. I barely see my family bc I have to around the clock to afford a rent of over 1500 plus utilities in a building that's not even upkeot in a way that respects how hard I work to keep this home paid for. Rent caps will allow me the peace of mind to know I won't have to take on even more hours at work or a third job. Tenant protections like not being retaliated against and consequences for landlords that retaliates would allow me to be able to feel better about talking to our landlord about some of the issues we're experiencing and maybe it'll get fixed. It'd be nice to be able to be comfortable in my own home one day.
