I am tenant living with a roommate to afford rent of 1500+utilities for a 3 be home that has so many issues. We don't bring issues up like AC and repairs too often bc of fear of retaliation. We struggle to cover the bills and have funds leftover for food and living necessities. Tenant protections can protectus from our landlord retaliating when we just want to get what our money is paying for, a home that is safe and comfortable. Rent control would allow us to not live in fear that the rent will be hiked even further and plan for a future with my family.
