We are a landlord in Virginia. The Virginia Landlord and Tenant Act has been an excellent law in Virginia that has changed repeatedly over my 30+ year career. Our local representatives have done a good job of balancing the needs of our residents against the needs of our landlords. While I do not always agree what that is, we abide by those laws. Any attempt on the Federal level to intrude on that relationship between the people of Virginia and their elected officials is an attempt to usurp the powers relegated to the States in the Constitution. The Federal Government needs to stay out of State issues.
