As a homeowner myself, we rent to a low-income single mother, and we haven't increased the rent in 6 years. In exchange, our tenant is helpful, pays her rent on time, and we have strong communication. She lets us know when there's a problem, and is ready to receive maintenance people, and to pitch in and help herself to solve the problems. But knocking doors in Holyoke and Worcester, I've met tenants who are living in mold-infested and pest-infested homes. With rents steadily rising and salaries stagnating, tenants have not where to turn. That's why I'm asking FHFA to support tenant protetions - specifically to put limits on rent hikes, to provide good cause eviction protections, ban source of income discrimination enforce fair housing laws; create a landlord registry; and ensure tenants have the right to organize. Thank you for your support
