My name is Quinn Mulholland and I'm a tenant living in Lexington, Kentucky. I'm writing to ask that you take action to protect tenants by limiting egregious rent hikes, prohibiting evictions without good cause, and banning source of income discrimination and other forms of discrimination in properties with federally backed mortgages. Tenants across the country, including here in Kentucky, are facing a crisis of skyrocketing rent and housing instability. The FHFA has the power to mitigate this crisis by instituting strong tenant protections in the properties that benefit from federal financing. These tenant protections should be mandatory rather than optional, and landlords who violate these protections should be found to be in technical default and should not be eligible for future loans. The FHFA should follow the leadership of those who are directly impacted by the housing crisis: tenants. In order to do so, the FHFA should create an Office of Tenant Protections, led by directly impacted tenants, which would be charged with enforcing these protections.

    Sincerely,
    Quinn Mulholland
