Renters need protection from eviction & unreasonable price increases, & landlords need more incentives to provide basic services. Present incentives reward neglectful landlords & reward eviction. Cities & communities large & small witness increasing numbers of homeless individuals and families. Caring local people are inadequate to solve these system-wide problems! created by the overheated real estate market. I know a case in which nursing home patients were "evicted" so that a more lucrative business could be constructed on the land ( "The Fountains" in Oklahoma City). Business is allowed to create crises for people--their health suffers, children fall behind in school, local faith-based & nonprofit organizations struggle to be of help. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
